DONALD Leon….L means “lovable” MOORE
Entered this life on February 2, 1958 to the late Elbert and Florence Moore. He transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Donald was a graduate of Wentworth High School, after high school he worked at a local grocery store bagging groceries. His favorite pastime was talking to truckers on the CB radio with his dad. He enjoyed with his dad and uncles going hunting and fishing. As a young man he has always had many many friends, he loved them, and they loved him. He also loved to eat, and frequently told his mother what a good “cooker” she was.
Donald gave his life to the Lord at an early age and joined the Piney Fork Primitive Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. E.J. Williams. He was taught by the example of his parents, to be in leadership and serve the Lord and mankind. He served on many committees and boards of the Primitive Baptist Association.
He loved NASCAR racing and attended several races, and was down on Pit Road on occasions. Donald was a Dallas Cowboy fan for life…his favorite quote was when someone was playing against his team was to say “Keep Hope Alive.”
He was also preceded in death by his brother Sylvester Moore.
He will be truly missed by his surviving family members and friends: sister Judith Moore, Brenda Poteat, nephew; MaGarrett Galloway, great nephews; Jayden and Jacob Galloway, special cousin; Tracey (Albert) Terry, sister/ Friend Moniqueka Smith. Two aunts; Dorothy Moore and Beverly Gwathney. Special caregivers for 7 years - Mwangi “Simple”Kimani and Diane Fletcher for 6 yrs, and a host of other cousins, family and friends.
During his teenage years, (19) Donnie was severely injured in an automobile accident driving down a dirt road, the tire blew out and he collided with a tree. He survived the accident, through much prayers and good medical care. He has lived with a disability as a result of this accident for 46 years. Donald did not let what happened to him stop him from being a servant of the Lord, he traveled to many states to conventions with a close beloved friend Elder John Thompson and his parents.
Dear Family, Of Mr. Donald Leon Moore, I remember Donald from a long time ago, when I worked for "Winn Dixie" on highway 770 I would take his groceries to his car for him and help him. Such a kind and easy going man to talk with, always smileing with great things to talk about. May God, Comfort You and Give You Strength in this Difficult Time!
