She has fought the good fight, she has kept the faith and now she has gone home to be with the Lordβ
Sister Donna Marea Bailey took her rest on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Donna was the daughter of the late Deacon Harvey Lee Bailey and Deaconess Sallie Lash Bailey, born December 24, 1958. She attended the Stokes County Schools, graduating from South Stokes High School. She graduated from John C. Smith University with a BS in Sociology and later went on Forsyth Tech to Nursing School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed with North Stokes High School, Novant Health and Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings: Faith Bailey Kirkland, Harriet Lash Rhodes, Allison Bailey Johnson, Armstead Keith Bailey, Terry Lee Bailey, and James Edward Lash.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter Adriana Marie (Paul) Carter; one brother, Lloyd Bailey of Madison, NC, one sister; and Laura Ann (Joe) Caldwell of Kernersville, NC; and one granddaughter Mahlaya Carter, the apple of her eye. Her devoted friends: Jackie Dalton, Sandra Hairston, Angela Lineberger and Gwendolyn Smith. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire New Beginnings Christian Church family, where she was a member. A devoted cousin: Lavern Lash Newman, was by her side when she passed and special thanks and appreciation to staff at Kate B Reynolds Hospice house for the loving and gentle care provided to Donna in her final days and hours. Other members of her village during her illness included Znovia & John Shuff, Sandra Martin, Deborah Avent, Cynthia Lash and Gloria Frost.
I have fond memories of Donna Ree growing up. Back in the day several townships and communities had girl soft ball teams. Donna Ree could knock the cover off a softball. She was strong and mighty in physical strength. Perhaps her latest display of strength occured by developing faith, while encouraging others during her illness. Well done thou good and faithful servant...take your walk around home plate and rejoice for you are a winner! Sending prayers and love to all her family.
To the family. My prayers and condolences. Donna was an good old friend of the past. I am sure she will be truly missed, but let the love of Jesus comfort you with joy in the days to come. Fred Darby Folks Hill, NC

I saw you a couple of months ago but had no idea that would be the last time. Donna Maria's passing has come as a shock to me, and my heart aches for all of you. Donna Maria's kindness, warmth and humor touched me and everyone around her. She so loved her granddaughter and I will never forget her. With heartfelt sympathy and love, Jock Bailey
