Obituary For Doris Remonea Summers

Ms. Doris Summers, 44, of Madison, NC, died April 10, 2020. SERVICES WILL BE PRIVATE.

Mrs. Doris Remonea Summers Stackhouse was born July 8, 1975 to Robert June Summers and Rosa Mae Phillips Summers in Eden, North Carolina. She quietly departed this life in the wee hours of the morning on April 10, 2020. Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held Friday, April 17th at the Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel, a part of Perry & Spencer Funeral Home in Madison, NC. A visitation will be held at 12:00 noon followed by the private service at 1:00 pm. A private burial will follow at Collins Cemetery in Madison, NC. Born the youngest child to the late Robert and Rosa Summers, Doris grew up in a very close-knit family with her older siblings, Robert Jr. (Stinker) and April. She was surrounded by family from both sides, often calling her cousins her brothers and sisters and rooted deeply in a strong faith in GOD and familial bonds with lots of love and laughter. Doris was a quiet, reserved, and a tad bit shy youngster with a unique giggle that would make anyone smile and laugh along with her. Her laughter was a rare commodity that she possessed.Doris attended school in the former Western Rockingham County Schools (now Rockingham County Schools). She attended the former Madison-Mayodan High School and graduated from the newly built Dalton L. McMichael High School, located in Mayodan, NC, as a member of the Class of 1993. Doris was often described by her teachers and classmates as a “very sweet and smart, young lady was exceptionally friendly and showed the utmost care to others.” She was known for her kind and compassionate demeanor. Doris attended Rockingham Community College (RCC), located in Wentworth, NC, where she was pursuing a nursing degree before her health declined. Doris was employed as a home healthcare aide until her health declined, as she loved caring for others. She cared for both her mother, father and brother before their deaths. As a kidney transplant recipient, she cherished and valued every minute of life. She felt she had been given a new lease on life after her transplant and wanted to hold those things she valued most- God, family and friends, close to her heart. Doris tried very hard to remain positive and not grumble or complain even when she was sick or not feeling her best. She was confident that through her suffering she was destined to gain eternal life. She had a love for purchasing new clothes, shoes and expensive jewelry. She adored being a fashionista with her nails freshly polished and with her fresh hairdos. Doris was a faithful member of Greater Shining Light Holiness Church in Reidsville, North Carolina, where she joined as a young teenager with her parents under the leadership of Elder James A. Leak. Here, Doris was able to feed her faith and push forward in life as she was reassured of God’s faithfulness, especially during some of the most trying times of her life. On February 13th in the year 2013, Doris married her soulmate and best friend, Jeffrey Stackhouse. Jeffrey and Doris shared a love like no other. They enjoyed playing trivia together, watching Crime TV, talking to each other on their daily and nightly special dates and playing with their little dog Bo. Doris loved watching her beloved Duke Blue Devils play basketball with both Jeff and Bo. Doris was preceded in death and reunited in glory with her parents Robert and Rosa Summers, sister April Mae Summers, brother Robert June Summers, Jr., nephew Derrick Summers, maternal grandparents Calvin and Christine Phillips and paternal grandparents Robert and Lillie Summers. Doris leaves to cherish precious memories, her husband Jeffrey Stackhouse of the home; aunts, Evelyn B. Moore (Frank), Nannie P. Welch and Sandra J. Welch (Dennis), all of Mayodan, NC; uncles, Calvin E. Phillips, Jr. (Willa Mae) of Greensboro, NC, Stanley A. Phillips (Ella Jean) and James M. Phillips, both of Mayodan, NC, Garfield Summers (Verona) and Ronnie Summers (Della), both of Cleveland, OH; three sisters-in-law, Diane Stackhouse Hall (Douglas) and Darlene Stackhouse Byrd (Steven) of Wentworth, NC and Bashira Halim (Tamula) of Winston-Salem, NC; goddaughter Khyah Lenette Strange of Eden, NC; godson Jeremiah Jordan Stackhouse of Kernersville, NC; special cousins, Charlotte G.
