Elder Edward Clark 87 of Eden passed Monday March 16, 2026.The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 21, 2026, at Monument of Faith Church, 319 Henry St. Eden, NC. The “Homegoing” service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with interment following at Hairston’s Family Cemetery 174 Shady Grove Rd. Eden, NC.
Public viewing will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, 511 Henry Street, Eden, NC.
Elder Edward Clark, Jr., a highly respected man of God, devoted husband, loving father, cherished uncle and incredible friend, entered his eternal rest on March 16, 2026. Born on January 13, 1939, in Axton, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Jame Edward lark and Gladys Terry Clark. His life was a reflection of faith, commitment and a deep love for both God and family.
Edward received his early education at Carver High School before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military servie, he built a remarkable and enduring career as a commercial truck driver, dedicating 54 years of faithful service to Warren Trucking. His strong work ethic, discipline and dependability earned him the respect of colleagues and all who knew him.
While his professional accomplishments were notable. Edward's greatest calling was his commitment to God. Affectionately known as “Ed” e gave his life to the Lord and faithfully served on a Deacon and licensed Minister before being installed as Pastor of Glenn Grove United Holy Church in 1984. For 34 years, he led with wisdom, humility and unwavering dedication. Under his leadership, lives were transformed, faith was strengthened and the church remained a place of spiritual growth and community. He also served honorably as a District Elder for the Western North Carolina District of the Unity Holy Church, further extended his influence and leadership throughout the region.
Elder Clark's life stood on a testimony that faith must be lived not just spoken. He loved the Word of God and found joy in reading his bible, sharing wisdom and guiding others in their walk with Christ. His voice, presence and counsel left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Beyond the pulpit, Edward was a man who deeply loved his family and cherished eve moment spent with them. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Frances Lee Wilson Clark, on August 3, 1959. Their 66-years union was a beautiful example of love, partnership and enduring commitment. Together, they were blessed with four sons, building a legacy rooted in faith and family.
Edward was well known for the joy he brought into every gathering. He was without a question, the family's Grill master, famous for preparing mouthwatering steaks that brought everyone together. Those cookouts were more than a meal - they were moments of laughter, fellowship and love. He also enjoyed playing golf, where he found both relaxation and friendly competition and he valued the simple pleasure of time well spent with those he loved. He carried himself with quiet strength, kindness and authenticity. Whether as a pastor, father, uncle or friend. Ed made people feel seen, supported and valued. His presence was steady, his love was genuine and his legacy is last-made people feel seen, supported and valued. His presence was steady, his love was genuine and his legacy is lasting.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Hosea Clark, his sister, Mary W. Clark and Christine Dillard and his beloved son, Jonathan Clark.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife of 66 years, Frances Clark, his sons, Corelandus Clark of Belmont, NC, Everett Clark (Loretta) of Whitsett, NC and Jarvis Clark of Eden, NC. His sisters; Doris M. Perkins of Axton, VA, Carnelies Ann Clark of Jamestown, NC and Delma Mare Clark of Atlanta, Ga and his brother, Norman Sylvester Clark (Sharon) of Auroro, CO. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great--great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Pastor Edward Clark, Jr. will be remembered as a pillar of faith, a dedicated servant of God, loving family man, and a man whose life reflected integrity, joy and unwavering devotion. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he nurtured and the faith he so faithfully lived eacy day.
