Fleta Diane Scales, 68 of Stoneville, NC passed Saturday, September 14, 2024. Public viewing will be Friday, September 20, 2024 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC from 12 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel of Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Minister Fleta “Diane” Kellam Scales, 68 of Stoneville, NC passed Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Moses Cone Health Hospital. Fleta was born to the late Jefferson and Mildred Vay Kellam in Rockingham County on October 9, 1955.
Diane gave her life to God at an early age and was a faithful member of Goodwill Baptist Church. While at Goodwill, God called her to the ministry under the leadership of Rev. John Jackson. Later she moved her membership to Grace Fellowship Church, under Rev. John Jackson’s leadership.
Minister Diane was a truck driver and then in her later years she served her community as a CNA, working for The Aging, Disability & Transit Services. She also opened her home to care for others. She gave special care to her Aunt Molene Johnson.
She was a graduate of Madison Mayodan High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1973. God gave her special joy, her baby girl, “Katrina Diane” that she loved and cherished her whole life.
On June 16, 1987 she was united in marriage to the late Larry “Pimp” Scales who preceded her in death on March 5, 2024, whom she loved dearly.
Minister Diane leaves to cherish her memories: He beloved daughter; Katrina Diane Washington Neal (S’von) of the home, aunt; Molene Johnson of the home, four brothers-in-law; Thomas Scales (Ellen) of DeKalb, NY, Vene Scales (Penelope “Penny”) of Stoneville, NC Robert Scales (Hilu) of Albuquerque, NM and Desi Scales (Alice) of Fayetteville, NC. Two sisters-in-law; Debra Hunter of Stoneville, NC and Barbara Dillard of Eden, NC., along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

It was your smile and your compassion for others, that we shall miss. Despite the fact that Diane had health issues, the lord gave her strength to take care of others.
