George Kevin Wilson departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC. Kevin, as affectionately called by family and friends, was born on January 17, 1956 to the late George Washington Wilson and Vastina Stone Wilson.
Kevin was educated and received his high school diploma at the Philadelphia School For The Deaf (PSFD) in Philadelphia, PA where he spent the majority of his childhood to adulthood with his Grandmother, Beulah Stone whom he affectionately called “Mommie”.
Kevin learned life skills at the PSFD and mastered sign language. He never considered himself with a handicap and enjoyed and embraced life to the fullest! Kevin was a very loving and caring person and never met a stranger. He loved his family dearly and was always so excited when his family made the many trips to Philly and when he came down to VA to spend summers and holidays.
Kevin loved music and loved to dance. He also loved sports cars and racing, traveling, seeing new places and experiencing new things. He was never afraid of change, contrarily, he embraced it! After a life altering stroke that left him partially paralyzed on his left side, he moved permanently to Eden, NC with his Mother Vastina and his oldest brother Gary and wife Kathie whom he was with and cared for him to the very end.
Kevin knew and confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior early in life but rededicated his life to Christ in August, 2016 and was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cascade, VA.
Kevin leaves to cherish his fond memories an only daughter, Robin Harmon-Moye (Jesse), his life long partner, Sandra Harmon, one granddaughter, Gi’Rae Regusters, two grandsons, Ke’Syi Regusters and Ernest Teague-Harmon, all of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, Gary P. Wilson (Kathie) of Eden, NC; James L. Wilson (Dorothy), two sisters, Loretta J. Morrison, and Vera M. Woodbury all of Charlotte, NC; the extended family of the late Richard and Sadie Adams, the Griffin and Irene Hairston families all of Eden, NC; four nephews, 2 nieces, 6 great nephews and 5 great nieces.
In addition to his Mother and Father, Kevin was also preceded in death by his Grandmother “Mommie” Beulah Stone, one brother, Derrick ‘Peanut’ Wilson, one niece, Nykisha Morrison, one nephew, Jovan Wilson, one brother-in-law, SSG Bert A. Morrison, one special Uncle, Mellon Ben Wilson (Annie).
