Hardy Foddrell, 85, of Martinsville, VA (formerly of Madison, NC) passed Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Dry Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 365 Pine Hall Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Public viewing with be from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC.
Mr. Hardy Foddrell departed this life on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 and completed his earthly journey. He was born to the late Roosevelt Foddrell and Kate Brown Foddrell March 21, 1940.
Hardy was very active in his life as a person who helped the homeless by feeding and helping them anyway he could. In his early years he was involved in the Freedom March alongside the late Martin Luther King. He served as a police officer in the Baltimore, Maryland area for several years before moving to North Carolina. Afte4r moving to Martinsville, Virginia he worked at Red Leven Furniture and Sears in Martinsville. He was a giving man who loved his family and everyone he associated with.
He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
he leaves to cherish his memory: his children; Stephanie Harris, Terry Martin and Faye Martin, brother, Harvey Foddrell, sister, Annie Mae Foddrell and caretaker/companion; Thelma Graves and a host of other relatives & friends.
Great Uncle Hardy, I wish I had more time to know you. I pray that God has prepared a place at the table with him. May your legacy live on. Christina Foddrell
