At an early age he accepted Christ and became a member of Rising Star Baptist Church where he served in the Sunday School Department and as a member of the Senior Choir. He was a gifted vocalist and he loved singing praises to the Lord. He was one of the many lead singers in the church choir. His favorite songs were “I’ve Got Heaven on my Mind” and “I Trust in God”. Under the management of Mr. Henry Taylor, he, along Howard Scales, Robert Scales, Ronald Milton, James Melvin Brown and Lorenzo Wilson became “The Jericho Travelers”. On Sunday mornings, they sang on the local WLOE radio station. Their theme song was “Only Believe”. They were among the first of many local African American quartets featured live on the local radio station.
He loved baseball and as a young man, played on the Moyertown YMCA team as the pitcher. He always watched the World Series games every year. His favorite team was the Brooklyn Dodgers and the LA Dodgers. He was a good cook and taught his children good cleaning habits.
Henry had two full time jobs. He was a factory worker and farmer. He was employed at Fieldcrest Karastan Rug Mill in the Dye House Carpet Department. He retired after 35 years of service. As a second profession he was an avid farmer. He was in business with his father where they harvested tobacco each year to assist with providing for the family. God allowed the family business to thrive for many years.
Daddy, we love you for the good direction through Christ that you’ve shown us. But God loved you best. We are sure Our Lord has welcomed you with open arms saying well done!
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (Matthew 25:21-23 KJV)
I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which Thou hast given me to do. (John 17:4 KJV)
2 Corinthians 1:3,4 gives us the assurance that "the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies" is "the God of all comfort" and he "comforts us in all our trials." James 5:11; God "is very tender in affection ["very compassionate"] and merciful." Please accept my sincere condolences. Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 36:7; 1 Peter 5:7)
During this time of sorrow and sadness my condolences are with your family for the loss of Henry Lee. The greatest comfort your family can have at this time is knowing that Henry Lee have the hope of a resurrection. Our Heavenly Father Jehovah had it written in the Bible at John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15. This was in conjunction with Jehovah sending his son Jesus who ransomed his life in order for the resurrection hope could be a reality. Furthermore, our Heavenly Father recognize the hurt in your hearts and expressed these word to at Psalms 34:18, “Jehovah is close to those who are broken hearted; He saves those crushed in spirit”. So “draw close to God and he will draw close to you”(James 4:8) because he will stregthen and sustain your family at critical time.
