“Toot” & “Moot” to family and friends alike, was born April 26, 1945 in Leaksville, North Carolina to the late Mr. James Weldon Womack Sr. and Sallie Hester “Hessie” Lowe Womack. Moot was called home on Monday February 17, 2020 after a brief illness. He was raised in a loving home filled with laughter, good cooking, and strong Christian values. Moot was born into the generation where the home house was the center of family life. With his sister and brother he was blessed to be raised among his niece, cousins and grandparents. The close ties bound in Sallie Etta Lowe’s home lasted throughout Moot’s life. He truly lived by the word that one must honor thy mother and father; he lived with them until their passing, helping take care of them as they got older. He was a loyal and loving nephew to Dot Lowe and Martha Dowls, his mother’s sisters, until their passing in 2014. Moot looked back fondly on the years he was a student at Charles Drew High School and he maintained close ties with his classmates until his passing. Moot loved playing the drums in the marching band and remained a lover of music his entire life. At the age of 14 he started what would become a lifetime career, working under Mr. Lee S. Perry Sr. at Perry and Spencer Funeral Home. Moot would work for the Perry Family for the next sixty years. He always had a quiet smile and a kind word for every grieving family who came through the doors of the funeral home over the next six decades. Moot was preceded in death by his grandparents; Minnie and George Womack, his sister; Martha Lee Womack "Bug"; his brother; Raymond Lowe; his beloved grandmother; Sally Etta Lowe, his grandfather; Bud Lowe, his aunts; Lena Hayes, Hattie Eva Davis, Willie Mae Davis Broadnax, Beatrice Davis Scales, Margaret Davis Claybrooks, Dorothy Lowe and Martha Dowls, great aunt, Janie Jones; great aunt and uncle Ross and Martha Meadows; his uncles; John and Theoda Davis and cousins; Laura Lowe Williams and Sandra Etta Lowe. He leaves to cherish his memory: his only niece, Karla Lynn Womack Martin (John), great-nephew Eric Johnson, his devoted companion of over fifty years, Bobbie Jean Rucker; cousins; Jackson Womack, Charles Womack, Keith Hayes, James Ross Lowe, Hester Elizabeth Lowe, Peggy Lee Lowe, Maria Dowls Grant, Mary Katherine Lowe Martin. These precious memories of "Toot" will be remembered by many cousins, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege to know him.
