Joe Ray Clark, 89, of Axton,VA died July 19, 2020. A funeral service will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VIEWING. Burial will follow at Saint John Baptist Church Cemetery, Axton Virginia.
Joe entered this life on October 31, 1930 to the late John Edd Clark and Lillie Ann Clark. He quietly transitioned into his eternal rest on Sunday, July 19, 2020. He was educated in the North Carolina School System, graduating from Douglas High School, Eden, NC. After receiving an honorable discharge from U. S. Army. He was employed with the state of North Carolina until retirement. Joe Ray was an activist for his community and was instrutmental in getting signage placed for the community. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Jean Cook. He leaves to cherish his memories: his son; Bryon K. Clark, Jr., two daughters; Cheryl Lynn Millner and Vernice Scales, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
You were one of the most interesting people I've ever met. You had a zest for life and a fiery spirit. I'll always remember our talks and the stories. Thanks for all you showed me, I won't forget.
