Joe Willis “Jeepie” Williams, Jr. 94 of Eden, NC passed Monday, May 8, 2023. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 512 Henry St., Eden, NC with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
On Monday evening, May 8, 2023, the Lord called daddy, Joe Willie Williams, Jr. of 407 Price St. to come home. He was born May 27, 1928, in Rockingham County to the late Joe Willie Williams, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Allen.
He attended Douglass High School and joined Robinson Memorial Holiness Church, Eden, NC under Rev. Harold Royster, then moved his membership to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, August 5, 1973. He was a member of the Honorary Brotherhood, Usher Board, Faithful Steward, Senior Choir and a faithful member of the Sunday School, where he loved to debate and challenge those who were in attendance.
He joined the U. S. Army in 1952 and fought in Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
On August 3, 1957, he married Frenzola Esther Smith and to their union five children were born. One son, Clifford Williams, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife; Frenzola Williams, three sons; Terry Hairston (Mona Lisa), Joe Williams, Kevin Williams (Ashley) all of Eden, NC, two daughters; Linda Valentine (Ronald) of Axton, VA, Lisa Hairston (David, Sr.) of Cascade, VA, two brothers; Jack Allen (Margaret) and Joe Louis Broadnax (Loretta) and sister, Mary Ann Jamison (Samuel) also of Eden, NC. Ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
