Obituary For John “June” Welch

John Welch, 80 of Madison, NC passed Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. , Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 at The Refuge Church, 213 S. 2nd Avenue, Mayodan, NC with the “Celebration of Life” beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery, Mayodan, NC.

John Welch, Jr. was born February 10, 1944 to the late John and Virginia Welch. He departed this life on June 17, 2024 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital. John, more commonly known as Poppie was employed by Unifi until his retirement in 2010 as a maintenance technician.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Marva “Sha” Welch, Patty Welch, adoptive daughter, Treva Moore and sisters, Virginia and Cordelia.

He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy with his devoted wife, JoAann Welch, irreplaceable sons; Anthony Welch (Michelle) of Winston Salem, NC, Rev. Christopher Welch (Michelle) of Mayodan, NC. Adored daughter; Kyosha Moore of the home, specially bonded adoptive daughters; Veronica Tatum, Artina Tatum and Nicole Foster, cherished grandson; Jeremiah Welch and adoptive grandchildren; Lamar Tatum (Valarie), Devon Tatum -Dalton (Stephanie), Chauncey Tatum, Chaslin Tatum, Chaya Tatum, beloved brothers and sisters; Calvin Welch, Mona, Cynthia, Teresa, Gwendolyn and Mattie along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends - all the same who will miss him tremendously.

Brother June and the entire Welch family is one of the best families that I have ever know in my life! I am forever grateful and indebted to how kind and wonderful they have always treated Me & my family. I am also thankful to the entire family for all they have done for my grand & great grands and much more! May God place our hearts at peace as we grieve over this wonderful man. Amen
