John Martin, Jr. "Tommy", 85 of Eden, NC passed Saturday, December 3, 2022. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Little Bethlehem Christian Church, Eden, NC followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
John Martin, Jr. was born on April 23, 1937, to the late John Martin and Nannie Vaughn Martin. On December 3, 2022, he made his transition into everlasting life at Trinity Glen Senior Living Center in Winston Salem, NC.
He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Reidsville, NC. He then attended North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, NC where he achieved a degree in Electrical Wiring. After graduating he was employed at IBM RTP, in Durham, NC where he retired after 28 years of employment. He later moved to Charlotte, NC and worked part time in the Mecklenburg Schools System, until his second retirement.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Willean Hudson Martin on March 25, 2006. His brothers; Melvin, Lacy, and Vernard Martin and his sisters; Lucy Galloway, Janie Brice, Garnett Rucker and Lillie Mae Martin. His sister, Lillie Mae Martin Price who transitioned on November 30, 2022.
John leaves to cherish his memory: three children; Keith Martin (Lisa) of Garner, NC, Bridgette Scarboro (Melvin) of Clayton, NC and Kenneth Martin (Elisa) of Greensboro, NC. Nine grandchildren; Michelle, Jonathan, John, Chelsea, Joshua, Jessica, Kelsea, Alex and Ariana, sister; Barbara Henley of Eden, NC and host of other relatives and friends.
Don’t cry for me, I’m here with Lillie & Willean, for I’m not alone; the angels are with us, to welcome us home. It was just my time but we will see you someday on the other side.
