Obituary For John William Tatum

John William Tatum, 81 of Walnut Cove, NC passed Saturday, November 22, 2025. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2025 Church of the Living God, 7552 Happy Hill Rd., Kernersville, NC. with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Church of Jerusalem Cemetery, 1870 Martin Luther King, Jr. Rd., Walnut Cove, NC.

Beloved father and husband, John William Tatum passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. He was born to the late John Dudley and Ada Tatum on February 1, 1944, in Stokes County.

John attended school at London High School, Walnut Cove, NC. He was employed at the former Burlington Industry for 30 years and later went to work with the Winston Salem Forsyth County School System where he retired.

In 1970 he joined The Church of the Living God in Stokesdale, NC where he served as head Deacon and a member of the Trustee Board.

He was also preceded in death by his son; Delbert Smith and his sister; Evangelist Mary Golden.

John was united in marriage to the former Geraldine Smith on January 28, 1961, and to their union five children were born: Tijuana Linston, Anthyon Tatum (Cookie), Monque Gregory, Tangee Ingnam (Joshua) and Shekinah Tatum. Along with seven grandchildren; Shaneka, Chad, Tameka, Sentinya, Midoria, Anesha and Joshua, Jr. Sister; Peggy Ijames (John) and Evangelist Sarah Goolsby (Isaac). Honorary son; Keith Hugh and a host of other relatives and friends.
