Joseph Junior Moore, 72, Walnut Cove, NC passed Saturday, March 26, 2022. Public viewing will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Withers Chapel Church, Belews Creek, NC with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Joseph Junior Moore was born to the late Charlie Junior and Emma Lee Tatum Moore on March 17, 1950, in Stokes County. Joe Transitioned peacefully from earth to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC.
“Joe” as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was raised on the family farm and was educated at London High School and South Stokes High School in Stokes County. He retired from the Throwing Plant/Burlington Industries/UNIFI with 45+ years in January 2015. After his retirement he enjoyed his family and loved to watch Wrestling, Westerns and Drag Racing on TV.
Joe joined Withers Chapel Church, Belews Creek, NC. He was member of the Men’s Choir, the Withers Chapel Men’s group and the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee. Joe was very active and dedicated to Withers Chapel. He also was a member of Stokes County Chapter #5455 of the NAACP.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Mrs. Peggy Moore Timberlake (sister), Pamela Martin (niece) and Justin Brimmer (nephew).
Those cherishing precious memories: His son; Demetrius Mario Moore of Walnut Cove, NC, two daughters; Melissa Worthen Thacker of Atlanta, GA, Melodie Williamson of Ohio, grandchildren; Mon’Sherrye Lash of Alabama, Le’lundon Bass, Meai’haunist Bitting, Mercedes Johnson all of Atlanta, A’torian Bitting of Kentucky. Even great-grandchildren; his brother; Carl Tatum of Stoneville, NC, sisters; Rosie Martin of Kernersville, NC, Pastor Linda Moore of Walnut Cove, NC, nieces; Kim Tatum, Diane Martin, Tammy Tatum, Tatum Brimmer and Josephine Moore. A special son; William Gladney, his special cousin (that was like a brother) James “Rooster” Moore, a special friend; Gwendolyn “Squeak” Mitchell and a plethora of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
To the Family of Joseph Moore: We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Joseph Junior Moore. He and his sister Peggy were in my Business Math class, which I taught when he was at South Stokes High School. He was so kind and polite. I knew his family. His brother Carl was a classmate of mine at London High School and at N.C. A & T State University. Joseph will be missed, but you have lots of memories of him.
