Mrs. Margaret was born December 19, 1927 to the late Stephen W. and Laura Bell LeSueur Scales. She transitioned from life Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Hospice of Rockingham County, Wentworth, NC. After not finishing school, she received her GED from Rockingham Community College. She was employed at Stoneville Furniture for 30 years and later became an instructor at Burlington Industries where she retired. She was married to the late Jerry F. Hopper, Jr. on July 4, 1951; and to their union one daughter was born, Frances Melinda Hopper, whom they loved dearly. “Granny” will forever be honored by her only granddaughter, Cher Jena Brown, her heartbeat and her only great grandchild, Craig D. Brown, who she truly treasured and called angel. She and her husband also raised her deceased sister’s daughters; Kay Francis and Judy Elizabeth, as their own.
“Mother Margaret”, as she was affectionately known to the members of her beloved, Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. She was busy in the church and serious in being about her father’s business. She was a dedicated member of the Missionary, Usher and Culinary ministries; as well as a choir member and a cherished Mother of the Church. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and is survived by a host of nieces, nephews that will cherish her memory.
“Ms. Margaret” had a bubbly personality wherever she went along with her infectious laugh. Her soft & sassy nature was truly a gift to the kingdom of God, that we were given the privilege of sharing for a season.
