Mr. Michael L. Phillips, 72, of Walkertown, NC, died September 21, 2020. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will have a private graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2020.
Michael of Winston Salem, NC passed on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Novant/Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. He was born July 25, 1948 to the late Joseph and Bertha M. Phillips. He graduated from Anderson High School and was immediately drafted into the military, where he served his country for two years in the U. S. Army including a tour in Vietnam. We were blessed when it was in God’s plan for Sister Gloria Satterfield to bring Brother Michael Phillips (her soon to be husband) with her to Pine Hall Missionary Baptist Church. He grew spiritually and soon became one with the Lord, Sister Gloria, and the Pine Hall Church family, including then Pastor, Rev. and Sister Richard F. Lowery. Brother Phillips was eager to deepen his relationship with the Lord, learning more and more about Him, serving others and the church, he grew stronger and wiser through the Holy Spirit. He participated in Sunday school faithfully, later serving as Treasurer until his death. Likewise, he loved Bible Study, testifying of God’s goodness and increasing his knowledge and understanding of applying His Word. He also used his gift of ministering music, worshipping God in song, many times not wanting to sing without his beautiful and devoted wife Gloria, directing and praising God with him. When his health allowed, he sang in the Male Chorus, Senior, and later the Mass Choirs. He and his wife served the Nursing Home Ministry at LifeBrite Community Hospital of Stokes through the Missionary Ministry. He also enjoyed being a part of the Brotherhood and his relationship with Pastor Edwards and the Brethren studying “The Kingdom Man Agenda,’ He was also the devoted Vice-Chair of the Trustee Board for several years before being ordained a Deacon, and took great pride serving as Treasurer of the church, and he served in this position faithfully until death. He was not only respected by others, but he respected others… he was not a respecter of persons. When he spoke, whether testifying, commenting in Sunday school, or in Bible Study, when he had something to say, everyone listened. The work he did truly, spoke for him. Let us, like him have joy in serving the Lord! Deacon Phillips is now able to praise God with no need for treatments or concerns for his throat!! He fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished his course… and laid up in heaven for him is his crown of righteousness. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Doni Phillips.
Michael leaves to cherish her memory: his loving wife of 14 years; Gloria Satterfield Phillips, four children; Tiffany, Ayana, Cedric and Jordan, numerous grandchildren, two brothers; David Phillips and Gregory Phillips and three sisters; Carolyn Morgan, Donna Davis and Jacqueline Phillips and a host of other relatives. His love for the church and family was paramount to his overall wellbeing. -HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED-

Good morning everyone, this is Mike's Second to the youngest brother David. There's so many fun memories That I have of my big brother It would probably take all day and probably into the next day so I'll give you two of my funders memories.
I remember when my brother will it to the service that's when I knew he was my hero and I looked up to him when he came on on leave I couldn't wait to put on his uniform are used to march around the house stand outside so everybody can see me because I was so Proud and of course cause of him I join the military. After he got home from the service he started working for RJ Reynolds and I was so happy that he was able to give me a summer job working with him and just made me feel so good to be able to ride to work with my brother and then when I was able to get my own vehicle it was so much fun Sharing a ride back-and-forth to work he will drive one week and I will drive the other week and I can remember just looking over and I'm just smiling being able to do this with my big brother. I would like to close by saying Mike I love you thank you for showing me how to be the man I am today and when you get to heaven please say hi to Mom,Dad,Donni,Kim and Don Morgan.
