Mrs. Minty Isabelle Hairston, daughter of the late William Byrd and Minnie Hairston was born July 15, 1927, in Stokes County. Minty moved to Washington, DC in 1944 and worked for the U. S. Government for several years.
When she moved back to Stokes County, she was employed by Burlington Industries of Madison for 12 years. She was forced to leave the job to take care of her mother, who had become ill and could not do for herself. After the death of her mother, she worked in the cafeteria at Pine Hall Elementary school for a year.
She accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She joined Pine Hall Baptist Church doing this time and became very active in many of the church auxiliaries as a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Circle, the food committee of the church and a member of the flower club. She was educated at Charles Drew School, Madison, NC.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Hairston on February 23, 2017, at the age of 69 years. Along with two sisters and two brothers.
Left to cherish her memory: two special nephews; Jimmy Dalton of Walnut Cove, NC and Minister Victor Hairston (Amanda) of Ruffin, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
To the Hairston Family, "Aunt Bit", as we've always called her, was one of the few who lived more than 9 decades. She will always be remembered in the Pine Hall community. May God forever bless your family with loving memories.
After knowing Mrs Bit for more than 60 years, I never knew her real name until seeing this obituary. Always a woman of statue. Virtue shrouded her. Very few of us can have such noble words spoken about us. You were blessed to live a long, clean life. Mama and I shall forever remember you . Mary and Vivian Timlic - Durham, NC 919-632-6475
