Mozella Hairston, 79, of Axton, VA passed February 17, 2022. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Perry Spencer Memorial Chapel, Eden, NC. Burial will follow in the Giles Family Cemetery, located on Norman Lane, Axton, VA.
Mozelle Hairston, age 79, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, died on February 17, 2022 at Martinsville Sovah Hospital, Martinsville, VA after a brief illness. Mozelle was born in Cascade, VA on March 12, 1942. She attended Cascade Public Schools. She lived her whole life between Cascade and Axton, VA. She was a member of Fresh Start Praise and Worship Center, Axton, VA.
Mozella's hobbies were picking greens, blackberries/strawberri4es and watching her soap operas.
She was preceded in death by here mother; Margaret Carter Hairston, father, Walter Hairston, two sons; Michael Jerome and Anthony Weaver Hairston, two sisters; Pearline Hairston and Yvonne Hairston Perkins, 5 brothers; Jerry Hairston, Bill Hairston, Daniel Hairston, George Hairston and Melvin Hairston.
Mozelle is survived by one daughter; Antoinette Hendon (Nathaniel), Piattsburgh, PA, four grandsons; Allen Logan, Jr., Atlanta, GA, Brandon Cannon, Cameron Cannon, Sr., and Nathaniel Hendon, IV Pittsburg, PA, seven great grandchildren; Amauri, Kakyia, Cameron, Jr., Calasia, Dior, Aria and Jaxtyn Cannon; Pittsburgh, PA, two sisters; Adelaide Strange, Cascade, VA and Bety Thompson, Eden, NC, special great niece and caregiver; Shamikka Reid (David), special friend; David Cabiness, a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. She loved her family above all else.
Mozelle you will be missed. My condolences to the family and friends.
