Mr. Rickey D. Simmons, 51, of Walnut Cove, NC died January 5, 2020. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 11, 2020 at Baileytown Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 1:p.m. to 2:00p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be held in the Baileytown Christian Church Cemetery.
A time to be born...Rickey was born on September 21, 1968 to the late Mack and Marie Welch Simmons. A time of die...He departed this earthly life on January 5, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jerry W. Simmons, one sister, Diane S. Hairston and grandson, Zayir Higgins. A time to plant....Brother Rickey grew up in Stokes County and attended Stokes County Public Schools. He graduated from South Stokes High School in 1987. He was a dedicated member of Baileytown Christian Church where he joined at a very young age. He served on the Trustee Board, Usher Board and was president of the Men's Fellowship where he served faithfully. He was employed by Pine Hall Brick Company for 22 years until his health declined. A time to mourn....Loving memories of him shall remain with his wife, Mrs. Elaine Simmons of the home, daughters; Erica Hairston (Bryan) of Walnut Cove, NC, Stephanie Belcher of Kernersville, NC, great niece; Morgan Sweeney of the home, godson; Jatavian Jabrae Reynolds of Walnut Cove, NC, three sisters; Maxine Berger (Raymond) of Walnut Cove, NC, Lisa Salton (Kaoyu) of Winston Salem, NC, Angie King of Walnut Cove, NC, four grandchildren; Zi'Yanai and Zaidyn Higgins, Pailyn and Teaghan Hairston, one sister-in-law; Sharon Simmons, brother-in-law; Anthony Hairston, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and the entire Baileytown Church Family.
