Obituary For Roger "Papa" Elmer Peatross

Roger "Papa' Elmer Peatross, 75 of Eden, NC passed Monday, October 7, 2024. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, 511 Henry Street, Eden, NC with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm.

Roger Elmer Peatross, born February 13, 1949 to the late Helen Wilson and Leslie Peatross, Sr. Robert left this life on October 7, 2024 at UNC Rockingham Hospital.

He was a textile worker for around 40 years from Dan River Mills to Fieldcrest, Spray Cotton and Stoneville Furniture, to name a few. “Papa” was known as “The Shade Tree Mechanic”. He enjoyed putting things together, especially cars and lawn mowers. When he was not outside working on machines, he could be found in the kitchen cooking and baking. For he was a man with many talents.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Byrd Peatross and son, Roger (Worm) Peatross, Jr.

Roger leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter; Rita Faye (Larry), two grandsons; Elijah and Jeremiah of Reidsville, NC, sister; Hilda Greene, brothers; Leslie, Jr. (Geraldine), Bill (Rosetta), Preston (Vanessa) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
