Mrs. Ruth Dillard, passed Sunday, July 21, 2019. Public viewing will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1315 E. Washington St., Greensboro, NC. Graveside service will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 12:00 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
Mrs. Ruth Dillard Grandy, daughter of the late Spot Arthur and Elizabeth Hampton Dillard was born in Rockingham County, June 8, 1928. She transitioned from this life to eternity, July 21, 2019. Ruth was reared on a farm near Leaksville (Eden) and graduated from Douglas High School. She graduated from Lutheran Junior College and (NC A&T State University) in Greensboro, graduating in 1956, where she was employed as a secretary for over 30 years. Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Greensboro. She was married to the late Jasminius Rudolph Grandy III (Rudy) and to this union a daughter was born, Shirlye. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by stepson, Jasminius Grandy IV (Treaty), brothers, George, Jim and Billy Dillard, sisters, Edna Tabb, Mary Perry and Eva Bridges (Pete). Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shirlye Grandy, nieces, Yvonne Alston, Arvelia Perry-Martin (Sister), Cathy Dillard, Shelia Perry-Mosley and Renata Dillard, Althea Bingham, nephews, Lee (Perry Jr), Lawrence, George Jr., grandson, Jay Grandy, special granddaughter, Tsara McKenney, great-granddaughter, Jailen, a special great- nephew, Nyles Mosley, sister-in-law, Laura Dillard and a host of great-nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
