Obituary For Samuel Jackson Womack

Mr. Samuel Jackson Womack,71, died March 06,2020. A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 13,2020 at Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel in Madison.

Jacckson, known to family and friends as “Jack” was born to the late Samuel Womack and Mildred Crutchfield Womack on April 20, 1948. He departed this life on Friday, March 6, 2020 at his home. Jack was educated in the Rockingham County School System and graduated from Madison Mayodan High School in the Class of 1967. He was employed in Washington, DC where he worked in the Library of Congress for several years. After returning to North Carolina, Jack worked for the family of the late Dr. Frank Webster for over 25 years. After retiring, he was employed part-time at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. Jack was known to many in the community, and would help anyone. Once you met Jackson, you knew that he would ask about your family. Although Jack did not have children, he always gave books to them to read. He was a faithful supporter of the Muslin community. Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Henry and Maggie Crutchfield, George and Minnie Womack, aunts; Lena Hayes and Shirley C. Holloway, cousins; James Womack, Jr., Martha Womack, and Oscar McRay Crutchfield, and many others family members. Left to cherish his memory are: siblings; Keith Booker, Vonn Booker, Vickie Berg, Garnette Wade, Teresa W. Crew (Nelson), Delilah W. Livington (Angelo), Cathy W. Patrick (David), Gwendolyn W. Carnell (Reginald), Ricky Womack (Pam), Samuel Womack, Charles Womack, devoted cousins; Rita Lowe, Charles Womack, Jr., Karla Lynn Martin (John), Gail Reaves (Wynton) aunt, Alice Crutchfield, and uncle, William Holloway. Also left to cherish his memory a host of other relatives and friends.

Though ive moved away from the town of Madison but when i was their jackson and i had long deep conversation about world events and the Nation.He had such knowledge and encouragement to whomever he encountered.Much love for you my brotha.You were a true brotha and may you rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear this , I've know him over 50 yrs & considered him a friend . He was always kind to me & always a gentleman.
