Sylvia Long, 60 of Winston Salem, NC passed March 6, 2026. Public viewing will be held, Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Perry Spencer Home, 402 Short Ave., Madison, NC.
Sylvia Mitchell Long, some call her Mama, one called her daughter, others sister or Auntie and many call her family or a friend. Yet she is most affectively known as Sylvia and what matters most is that she is loved. Sylvia boldly entered this world on July 23, 1965, She departed from this earthly vessel on Friday, March 6, 2026 at her home in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Sylvia was a dedicated member of Greater Grace Holiness Church in Walnut Cove, NC. for a long period of her life. But for the past fe years she attended Fountain of Youth, Madison, NC under the leadership of Bishop William Phillips.
After graduating from South Stokes High, Sylvia wore many hats in the community. By helping the elderly or disabled while assisting them with cleaning, cooking or just company or just company to chat. Sylvia was always willing to be a helping hand to anyone that was in need.
She had a heart of gold and was always smiling and cracking jokes. In all aspects, she touched many lives and helped many people. He energy was so contagious, it was impossible not to love her. She loved everyone unselfishly and unconditionally the same.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father the late Andrew “Sweet” Mitchell and maternal paternal grandparents and sister, Vanessa Mitchell.
Although she isn't physically here with us her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved & adored children; William Mitchell, Ivory Mitchell & Kimberly Mitchell all of the home. Grandchildren; Serenity, Sincerity, Karizma, Zane, Santana and Little William. Loving mother; Annie Mae Mitchell of Walnut Cove, NC. Irreplaceable sisters; Marily Mitchell, Velvet Mitchell both of Winston Salem, NC, Loretta Adams (Eddie) of Walnut Cove, NC. Influential brothers; Peryy Mitchell (Alice) of Walnut Cove, NC, Renee (Michelle) Mitchell of Madison, NC, Chris Mitchell (Jacinta) of Winston Salem, NC. Two very special nieces; Minister Nicole Foster of Mayodan, NC and Desirae Mitchell of Winston Salem, NC; an abundance of aunts and uncles, very specially bonded nieces and nephews and extended friends who were family to her just the same, who will miss her dearly.

To my beloved Nana , I'm grateful for the 15 years of my life that I got to spend with you , you always knew how to calm my heart , make me smile , and teach me many things in life some as simple as , how to chew gum and how to color , Nana you had the most purest heart you loved everyone you had a heart full of Gold no matter what life through you prayed and you knew Jesus !!
