Topsy Ann Hairston, 70 of Eden, NC passed Thursday, January 22, 2026. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at Ambassadors For Christ Ministries, 241 Peter Hill St. Eden, NC. The “Celebration of Life” will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Eden Gardens Cemetery, Eden, NC.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home 511 Henry Street Eden, NC.
Ms. Topsy Ann Hairston, lovingly known as “Ann” was born to the late Robert W. Shuff and Lucy Kate Brown on June 10, 1955 in Rockingham County. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Cone Health Annie Penn Hospital, Reidsville, NC.
Ms. Hairston attended Stoneville High School until 1974. She was employed with the Counsel on Aging for many years until she became disabled.
Ann began her walk with the Lord at an early age with baptism at Gospel Light United Holiness Church under the leadership of Dr. Lettie Cohen, Axton, VA.
She currently was a member of Ambassadors for Christ. Here she found joy in making sure her church family made it to service and church functions by way of her personal transportation. She loved her Pastors. and spoke highly of them both often.
Ann had many hobbies that she enjoyed but weather permitting you were guaranteed to find her by thye lake fishing.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, listening to gospel quartet music, cooking an spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert W. Shuff (Florence C. Shuff) Lucy Kate Brown, her son, Ali C. Shuff, Sr., brother, James Lester Brown and sister, Della Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters: Katherine S. Geter, Martinsville, VA, and Trisha L. Shuff of Madison, NC, six sisters; Selenda Adams, Eden, NC, Savannah Dillard, Eden, NC, Dorothy Hampton, Cascade, VA, Christine R. Galloway, Greensboro, NC, June A. Roberts, Eden, NC and Sandra G. Roberts, Eden, NC; brother, William T. Roberts, Eden, NC. Five grandchildren; Dayshawn Hairston, Staff Sergent TyQwell Shuff (Mary) Jertavia Williams, Shambriel Geter and Shytaisha Shuff. Three great-grandchildren; Jesiah Parker, Trevon Chapman and Shylen Stephenson and special aunts, Gracie Price and Mildred Lowe.
I am very sorry for your loss. My Dad, Leroy Kennedy spoke highly of Ann. He lived in the same apartment complex. Prayers of comfort lifted for all of you.
We are so sorry to hear of Ann passing. She had such a kind spirit. Remembering her smile and laughter. Ann had a fighting spirit. Through it all she pressed and continued to not complain. God knew what was best for her and has received her into his loving arms.

Ann truly loved the Lord, she pressed her way to the house of God, when she felt good and bad when others doing much better would stay at home. It was truly a blessing to know her and fellowship with her all these years.
