Von D. Olverson, 65 of Greensboro, NC passed Sunday, February 15, 2026. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Von Demorries Olverson, born March 11, 1960, passed away peacefully at home on February 15,
2026, at the age of 65.
Von was a man whose presence could light up any room. Known for his joking personality, quick wit, and deep love of music, he had a natural gift for lifting spirits. He loved turning up a good song, sharing
laughter, and keeping everyone entertained with his humor and unforgettable sayings. His family will
always remember him for phrases like “the Governor,” “the juice,” and his confident reminder to us all that, “There is only one in own.” Those words, delivered in his own unique way, will forever bring smiles and warm memories. He also had a strong love for landscaping and working with the earth. Being outdoors, shaping and caring for the land, brought him peace and pride. He found joy in watching things grow and flourish under his hands — a reflection of the care he gave to those around him.
Von leaves to cherish his memory his loved ones: April Williams; Jason Olverson (Kelly); Jacob Horsley; step-son Keith Williams (Latonya); and his nephew, considered a sibling, Hashone “Ray Ray”
Olverson. He was a proud grandfather to Micah and Caleb Williams; Jason, Jakaurie, Eden, and Eva Olverson; Amir Johnson; Jaden Horsley; and Lincoln Horsley. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Olverson; his brothers, Barrie Olverson and Terrye Olverson; one aunt, Sarah Manns; and a host of nieces, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian Hairston Olverson and John Olverson, and his
brother, Alvert “Al” Olverson.
Von will be remembered for his laughter, his music, his green thumb, and the lighthearted joy he
