Willie Henderson Scales, son of the late Johnita and Jonnie Scales was born January 2, 1952. He departed this life June 13, 2022 at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh, NC.
He was also preceded by his grandparents, Jack Scales and Thelma Scales (1913-2001) of Madison, NC. Born to them was: Irene Scales, Mattie Scales, Jackie Cardwell (John), Peggy Dalton (the late Charlie), the late Alma Joyner (Marvin) and the Johnita Scales, and his sister, the late Sharon Hawkins Suitt.
He went through grade school and high school in Madison, NC. Willie served in the United States Army. He was a Mason Brother of Shepard Memorial Lodge #840 of Durham, NC. He worked at Steel City Services of Durham for twenty years. He was loving husband and father.
On April 21, 2007, Willie married Shannon Avery-Scales. His mother-in-law was the late Beryl Avery-Cox and father-in-law is Gerald Cox. His late brothers-in-law was Tony and Stacey Avery; is sister-in-law is Tara Avery of Jacksonville, FL. In addition to his wife and father, he leaves his memory: his daughters; Susan Davis Leonard (Walter) and Madison Scales of Nashville, NC, sons; Jason Hawkins (Stephanie) of Stokesdale, NC, Jack Scales of Covington, GA and Willie Scales of Nashville, NC, stepchildren; Jaylin Avery of Fayetteville, NC and Ny'mignon Avery of Rocky Mount, NC, Earlonna Jones of Nashville, NC and Charlie Jones of Nashville, NC, grandchildren; Erika Lee (Shaun) of Madison, NC, Tracer Leonard, Jasmine Hawkins, Staneley Battle, III of Rocky Mount, NC and Amazi Rhyia Jones of Nashville, NC, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn and Easten White of Madison, NC and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
