Gregory "Greg" Lamarr Mebane, 65, was born on February 1, 1958, the son of the late Monroe Mebane and Flossie Juanita Shippy Mebane. On Thursday, December 14, 2023, Greg's earthly journey came to an end peacefully at Hospice Home of High Point. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Mebane.
His religious affiliation was that of the Methodist denomination. Greg graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 1976, where he excelled in academics and sports. He was an outstanding athlete and played for both the basketball and baseball teams. After completing high school, he attended High Point College, now known as High Point University, where he continued playing baseball and earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. Greg had an illustrious career in both the banking and furniture industry. He was known for his exceptional abilities and dedication to his work.
In his leisure time, Greg was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Duke University fan. He loved watching their games and never missed an opportunity to show support. Overall, Greg was a remarkable individual who was admired by many. His accomplishments, both in his personal and professional life, continue to inspire those who knew him.
Greg was a humble and loyal friend and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a quiet individual, but he would speak his mind gently and thoughtfully.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Bianca Mebane of Charlotte, NC; brother, Anthony "Tony" Mebane of Graham, NC; aunt, Gloria Alexander of High Point, NC; nephew, Rashon Mebane; special cousins, Paul "Tommy" (Lincene) Alexander, and James "Jim" ( Melissa) Alexander, who were like brothers to him,; his friends who supported him, Anita Clark, Mike Howell, Michael McBernie, and Mike Cody and a host of other cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
