Obituary For Mr. James Gill, Jr.
Mr. James Gill, Jr., departed this life on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Piedmont Christian Home. He was born July 13, 1939, in High Point, NC, the son of the late James Gill, Sr., and Janie Parker Gill.
He graduated from William Penn High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from A&T State University in 1962. He enjoyed returning each year to participate in the A&T Homecoming festivities with his classmates. In 1963, he served in the United States Navy.
James lived in Silver Springs, MD., for over 50 years before retiring as an engineer from the U.S. government. Fifteen years ago, he returned to his home state of North Carolina. He was an avid reader; he also loved traveling with his Harley-Davidson family. His warm personality and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Surviving relatives left to cherish his memory are his sister, Peggie Moore; his special niece, Jarrette Grimes; and his special nephew, Raynard Moore (Michele); he is also remembered by his great-nephews and great-nieces, Jazz Johnson (Vanessa), Darrius Moore, Raven Kennedy (Desmeion), Colin Moore, and Anya Moore; along with his great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
