Mr. Billy Lee Shipman departed this life on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Moses H. Cone Hospital, due to illness. Born on August 8, 1955, in Robeson County, He was the son of the late Martha Marsh and Rudolph Shipman.
He received his formal education from the public schools of Robeson County.
Billy never met a stranger and was known for his integrity, unwavering commitment, hard work, and dedication to Thomas Built Buses, where he worked for over 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed reading the bible, gardening, fishing, and spending time with family.
Billy loved the Lord and was a proud member of New Bethel Baptist Church in High Point, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and six brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Betty Shipman of thirty seven years; one loving daughter, Arnetrue Shipman of Greensboro, NC; four bonus children that he loved as his on: Alex (Von) Bethea, Antonio Bethea, Cleopatra Bethea, Dominic (Aleasha) Bethea, all of High Point, NC; four brothers, James (Collette) Shipman of Georgia; Ervie (Ynette) Shipman of Fayetteville NC; Jerry (Mary) Shipman of Goldsboro NC, and Thomas (Wanda) Shipman of St. Pauls, NC. Additionally, he leaves behind two special grandchildren, Ju’Kwan Shipman, Kumani Bethea and his best friend, Craig Rouse; and a host of nieces and nephews who he loves dearly.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Pops I'm really going to miss you I've been known you for over 30 something years and you have always had a kind and love able heart thank you for everything you've done for me thanks for being the best father in law I can't believe I'm seeing RIP in front of your name I will always love you forever your daughter in law you can take your rest now job well done
