Edward Lewis McGill, 63, of High Point, NC, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1961, in High Point, NC, the son of the late Jeanne Boyce McGill and Lewis McGill.
Edward was raised in a Christian home and was a lifelong member of Congregational United Church of Christ. His faith guided his life and shaped the kind, generous man he became. Throughout his life, he embodied the values of love, compassion, and humility, making an impression on everyone he met. Edward never met a stranger, always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, and an open heart.
He shared a deep and special bond with his family, especially his father, with whom he enjoyed many fishing trips, and his dear cousins, whom he considered siblings. Edwardโs love for his family and friends was unwavering, and his joyful spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his youth, Edward was an avid basketball player, a sport he loved dearly, and it remained one of his many passions throughout his life. Even in his later years, he continued to enjoy fishing, often reminiscing about the peaceful moments spent with his father at their favorite spots.
Edward is survived by his special friend, Mary Brunson, a host of cousins, and many friends who were like family to him. Though his presence will be greatly missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, 401 Gordon Street. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
I have known Edward Lewis all my life. He was my big brother, and I was his little sister. We lived across the street from each other. Played in the streets together. And I will always remember Christmas Day every year with him and his family. Dancing, laughing, and having great fun! I love you, Edward Lewis - always. Rest in heavenly peace. One day, we'll dance together again.
As a child, I would visit my cousins Alisa and Jimmy Atkinson in High Point during the summer. Eddie lived across the street and we would visit and play with him every visit. Such a sweet soul God is receiving. Send love and condolences from Chester SC. Ellen Atkinson-Erby
Great memories!! RIP Ed Lewis The Young Family.
We've been neighbors for many years. We often referred to Ed as the mayor of Ashburn St. He was always the first to welcome someone to the street and make them feel welcome from day one. He was a great neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in Peace ๐ชฆ LAVORIS IngramButler
Ashburn Street won't be the same without seeing and hearing you. We grew up as family on Ashburn. I knew your mom and dad and you knew mine. Although I was older you treated me as your little sister. I'm so sad to know you're gone but we also shared our faith. Condolences to your family. Love from the Moore Family and from me, Waltina (Tina) Moore Evans.

My sincere condolences to the McGill family on behalf of the passing of your loved one. May God surround you with the peace that only he can give. One thing I loved about Edward was the fact that no matter when or where you saw him, he was the same. He would strike up a conversation like it was a continuation from our last meeting.
