Gary was born in Horry County to Jimmy Lee Edwards and Mary Ann Grayer. Gary departed his life on August 27th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones, and though his parents preceded him in death with one brother Aaron Miller, their memory lived on through the values they instilled in him.
In 2002, Gary made N.C. his home, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and love. A proud truck driver, he spent many years on the road providing for his family, demonstrating an unshakable work ethic and resilience. Outside of work, Gary found joy in simple pleasures of life—he loved bowling, fishing, and cruising in his Mercedes Benz. Family was at the center of Gary’s world.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father of six, and a proud grandfather of ten. His greatest achievement was raising his children with strength, patience, and care, always showing them what it meant to love unconditionally.
Gary leaves behind his devoted wife, Octavia James, of the home; his six children: Christopher Williams, Greensboro, NC , Ayekeia Skinner, Longs, SC Julius James, Shequil James (Tiffany), both of High Point, NC, Brandon James (Simone), Manhattan, Kansas, Daniel James, High Point, NC; he also leaves behind ten grandchildren; five brothers, and two sisters, who will continue to honor his legacy through the love and laughter he poured in their lives.
Though he has left this world too soon, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
