Gregory Hardy Hinson departed this earth on Saturday, September 12, 2020. He was born on July 31, 1948 in Lexington, NC to the late Robert Jerome Hinson and Bernice Watkins Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Coy and Emma Leach Crawford; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Katie Archie Hinson; and one son, Stephen Bailey.
Gregory graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1966. He attended Guilford Technical Community College for Automotive Systems Technology where he proudly received his certification.
He owned and operated Hinson Trucking Company sharing his love of traveling across the world. A rare gift, he was often called upon to do mechanical work on cars for others. Gregory made everyone feel special; his love and affection were always genuine. Brother Hinson joined St. John #19, Prince Hall Origin in High Point N.C., where he served as the Worshipful Master. He was also a member of Grand Royal Arch Chapter; St. John Grand Knights of Templar; St. James Grand Consistory; and Salem Grand Temple of Shriners. Brother Hinson had served faithfully in the Masonic Organization for over 35 years.
Gregory leaves a loving Legacy in the lives of those left behind. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Armintha Hinson; three sons, Darrell (Bertha) Rainey of High Point, NC, Michael (Tina) Bailey of Thomasville, NC, Dwayne (Ernestine) Hinson of Shepherdsville, KY; one daughter, Zondreāe (Sandy) Terry of High Point, NC; one brother, Edmond Arnold Hinson of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Beverly (Phillip) Anderson of Lexington, NC; two brothers-in-law, Ivey Nelson Jr. and Frank Davis of Greensboro, NC; four sisters-in-law, Christina Holt, Julia Thomas, Patricia Jackson all of Greensboro NC; and Jacquelyn (Jeff) Walls of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; there are also many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, relatives and friends. A private memorial service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
