Harry Lee Steed (better known to some as “Har-Lee”) was born February 10, 1944 in Randolph, NC to the late Pearlie and Anna Steed Knight. He transitioned to glory on September 23, 2020. He was also proceeded in death by a brother, Dennis Steed and a sister, Annette Holt.
In 1966, he was united in marriage to Faye Thigpen Steed and to this union four children were born. Harry attended William Penn in High Point, NC and graduated from GTCC with an associate’s degree. Harry was drafted into the US Army and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne in Fayetteville, NC. He was employed at Miller Brewery in Eden, NC for 30 years.
Survivors include wife Faye of the home; children, Kimberly Gray (Barry) of Archdale, NC, Troy Steed (Cheryl) of Trinity, NC, Terry Steed of Archdale, NC and Nicole Steed of the home; four grandchildren, Aerin Spruill, Cory Steed (Regina), Courtney Steed, Ashley Gray; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Hyder; one grandpup, Roxie; one sister, Lula Brown of Trinity, NC; one sister-in-law, Patricia Steed of Trinity, NC; one aunt, Mattie Johnson of Trinity, NC; a lifelong childhood friend, JR Rogers of High Point, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. Mr. Steed may be viewed on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
