Mr. Homer Fredrick βRickyβ Foster, born September 22, 1952, in High Point, NC, to the late Homer Cornelius Foster and Dorothy Annie Lucille Hill Foster, passed away shortly after arriving at Hospice Home at High Point on November 18, 2025.
He grew up in Trinity and attended Trinity schools, where he excelled in athletics and earned numerous awards in basketball and football. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1972 and went on to further his education at Winston-Salem State University. In 1982, Ricky proudly entered the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable medical discharge in 1983.
Ricky found great fulfillment in a long career as a truck driverβa profession he truly loved. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: fishing, watching drag racing, watching sports and westerns, working puzzles, and baking cakes for the people he cared about.
In 1976, Ricky married Betty Lane, and from their union came their son, Brian. Though their marriage ended, their friendship endured, and she remained a cherished presence in his life.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son, Brian Fredrick Foster, and his sister, Dorothy Jean Foster Matthews.
Ricky leaves to treasure his memory: his step-daughter, Angela Lane of High Point, NC; his grandson, Ethan R. Foster and granddaughters, Jordan Foster and Rashanda Lane all of High Point, NC; nephews Aubrey (Tabitha) Matthews and David Matthews, Jr.; special nephew and caretaker, Rodney (Erica) Matthews of High Point, NC; special cousin and caretaker, Anita Spencer of Winston-Salem, NC; special cousin, Phyllis Lee of Newark, OH; special friend, Ann Doyle of Statesville, NC; ex-wife/friend Betty Lane Foster of High Point, NC; along with several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
My condolences to the family.
Betty you are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of bereavement. Just know beloved you
Sending my deepest condolences to the Foster family. Saddened by the loss of my Uncle Rickey but know that he is in a better place! I remember being a kid and him taking me fishing with him and Brian or just being out and people thought me and Brian were siblings because I was brown skin like Unc and Brian was light skinned like my Aunt Betty. He turned me on to french fries (McDonalds) and bbq sauce. I'll always have a special place in my heart for him. Atoya, Marquis and Tiana
My deepest sympathy to the Foster family, until we see each other again
