Mr. John Kennedy Bethea, also known as (Sack) son of the late Mr. James Covington and Mrs. Hartense Bethea. John was born on July 29, 1961, and peacefully departed this life on February 18, 2025, unexpectedly at his home.
John attended Dillion County public schools in SC. After completing school, he made his new home in Thomasville, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James Covington and Mrs. Hartense Bethea; four sisters, Ms. Annie Mae Bethea, Mrs. Clara Mae Davis, Mrs. Thomasina Arnold Mrs. Mary Manning, and one brother, Mr. Alex Bethea.
He leaves to cherish his lovely memories: his daughter, Danielle McBee (Dewayne) and three grandchildren, Demarion, DeAna, and Dakota McBee, all of High Point, NC; two sisters, Flossie (James) Ingram and Flora Robinson both of High Point, NC; two brothers, James (Sheryl) Bethea of High Point, NC, and Willie (Claudia) Bethea of Dillon, SC; a special friend, Carolyn Broadway of High Point, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

To the bethel family you have my deepest sympathy. John was a good man and friend. He helped me for three month to try and catch my puppy that went missing on the woods. He would always bring me and my mom pork salad and vegetables. I can call on him and he was there. A true friend who is going to be missed. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good friend of mine, we spoke about every time he was in the neighborhood doing some work. John will be missed by many but not forgotten.
