Mr. Johnnie Darrell Marsh was peacefully called to his eternal home early Friday morning, December 20, 2024, at his residence. He was born in High Point, NC, on August 21, 1957, to Essie Tyson Marsh and the late, Johnnie Benjamin Marsh.
He graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1975. He pursued further education with determination and successfully obtained an associate degree in accounting from Lasalle University.
Darrell Marsh, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was our warrior, a beacon of strength and resilience. He was more than just a survivor; he faced each day with fierce determination, confronting life's challenges with the unwavering courage of a true champion. His presence was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Johnnie loved his family and was always there for anyone who needed him. He was kind, generous, and caring, consistently making time for those around him. His warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on the hearts of many.
His hobbies that brought him joy and excitement included playing on the computer, watching sports on television, and playing DraftKings with his mother.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his older sister, Paulette Laneva Legrande; his younger brother, Clarence Deprice Marsh; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Allen and maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Marsh.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother, Essie Mae Tyson Marsh of Jamestown, NC; one brother, Donald Benjamin Marsh (Deborah) of Oak Ridge, NC; one sister, Delphine Marsh of Jamestown, NC; four aunts, Jessie Millikan, Mary Cherry, Grace Hailey (Sidney) and Linda Richardson (Quincy). Although he did not have any children, he was cherished by his special niece, Courtney Octavia Marsh, and his other nieces, nephews, and close friends who will deeply miss him.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until11:00 a.m.
