My prayers and condolences go out to the family. I met him at Olga Ave Church of Christ and rode the church van with him. Sometimes, he would drop me off first (especially if I had school the next day) and sometimes, he would drop me off last and I would tell him my problems and what I was going through. He would then pray with me and for me when we got to my house if I was last on the route. He would always give out great advice to me as well and I still use them to this day. He used to call my sister Little Bit and my cousin Lipstick. My mom, sister, cousin and the rest of my family will really miss him. - Maria Charles
JD always had a smile!! The customers at Mann's always enjoyed his warm customer service. J could call most of them by name, if he didn't know their name he would ask someone. I have a lot of good memories the store, farm, and with J at my parents home. My thoughts and prayers go out to he and his family. Dee Dowdy
I met Mr. Dunlap when I was teaching at Kirkman Park! He was such a nice, gentle man and would help you any way he could! He often walked me out to my car and was my "protector". He would help me find my keys when I misplaced them and even bought me a "clapper" to help me keep up with them! I loved rearranging my room and he would always kid me about never knowing where my desk would be week to week! The last time I saw him he had his gracious smile. He will be missed! May he Rest In Peace! Wonderful picture of him! Janet Curlee

When I picture J.D., I see that smile and hear his laugh. I'm glad I have that image of him in my mind. I worked at Mann #4 in High School and that is where I got to know him. Nice man! Always great with the customers. I went on to work for David Dowdy for almost 50 years. J. D. Would stop by my office now and then to check on the Dowdys and we'd talk Old Mann Drug Stories. I hated when his health issues put a damper on that. But it was always fun to see him and hear what he'd been up to. He's looking down on us now hopefully renewing some old Mann Drug relationships from his eternal resting place. Praying for J.D.'s family and friends. He'll be missed! Mark Pierce
