Obituary For Mr. Larry Pratt
Mr. Larry Pratt, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with his loving wife by his side, after a well fought battle with cancer. He was born in Hamlet, NC on August 15, 1957, to the late John and Kareen Pratt. Larry was the youngest son of nine children. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Booker and Willie Pratt.
After relocating to High Point, NC in 1960 he was educated in Guilford County Schools and graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 1976. After high school Larry went on to serve his country in the United States Army enlisted on September 14, 1976. After three years of service, he was honorably discharged on March 19, 1979.
Larry was employed as a finisher at DarRan Furniture of which he retired in late 2022 after thirty years of employment. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan (still holding on to all those thirty-year-old Super Bowl wins lol). He was also a fan of UNC Tarheels. Larry was very outspoken, and outgoing. He enjoyed spending time with family, driving fast cars, listening to old vinyl records, fishing, and high school football games. He was also a big fan of KFC’s $10 Tuesday! With all he endured, he always had a smile on his face and never complained!
Those who remain to cherish, and carry on his memory are his wife of 43 years, Sharon Pratt; three children, Markell Moore, Ashauntae (Kendrick) Shaw, Tanisha Pratt; seven grandchildren, Steven Moore, Stefon Moore, Symiyah McCollum, Markee Moore, Kendrick Shaw Jr., Nova Shaw, Reina Chapman; six siblings, Ella Mae (John) Tucker, Jessie Lee Foster, Emmanuel Booker, Betty Jean (Alvin) Foster, Annie (Gene) Dixon, Lillie Robertson; special nephews Johnathan Robertson, Joshua White, Joseph White, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
