Over the last few days, I have sat and reflected on the impact my Uncle Butch had on my life. He had been a constant presence for as long as I can remember. Of course, he was my uncle, but he was so much more than that. He was present, dependable, and a deeply valued part of my life.

Uncle Butch was not a man of many words, but he was always willing to be a listening ear. I loved the bond he shared with my mother. Watching their relationship as I grew up made me want to have that same kind of bond with my own brother. The connection he had with each of his siblings was unique and special in its own way.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he was able. Until we moved from Brockton, he helped us shovel snow and rake leaves. He also spent time with my brother, taking him on fishing trips and creating memories that will always be treasured.

I especially enjoyed the way he laughed and joked with me and some of my cousins. Those moments, his laughter, and his quiet kindness will remain in our hearts.

I hate that today is the day we must say farewell, but I find comfort in knowing that this is only goodbye until we meet again on the other side. We have all been touched by your endless love and kindness.

Uncle Butch, we love you, and you will be deeply missed until we see you again.

Katrina Davis
