It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Ronald (Ronnie) Porter. Born in Rochester, NY then moved to High Point NC where he lived the majority of his life. He was predeceased in death father, Wilford Hamlin.
Ron served in the Army and often talked about his military time often.
He was a strong-willed cussing-sailor with a heart of gold, that he shared plentifully and indiscriminately with others who crossed his path. He was a loving father, family man and stand-up guy who was humble, receptive and kept his strength through humility and always evolving.
He is survived by his son, William Ellis Council; longtime friend and ex-spouse, Melanie Council; stepmother, Denise Hamlin; sisters, Peaches and Boochie; stepchildren and grands especially Tia and Jazmyn; A slew of special cousins, friends and family. Respectfully, Mona , Maurice and Joy.
Your sacrifice will not go in vain Dad. You are my superhero. In the words of your son, William Ellis Council. I will truly and forever miss you.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Ron, it was always a pleasure seeing you engaging with your son. I'd often tell you what a great father I thought you was. Always using your personal experience to offer words of encouragement. You had my full attention, as I have taken those words and used them to plant seeds in other people lives. By the way I'm still interested in Chess. See you later good man/good friend.
