Mr. Roy Deforrest Watts was born on January 5, 1953, in High Point, NC, to Jason Shedford and Christine Watts. On October 17, 2025 on our Mother’s birthday. Roy, 72, peacefully transitioned into eternal life in High Point Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents. Only God knew what Roy could endure and what was best for him, so God suddenly took him home while he was surrounded by his loving siblings.
Roy attended Guilford County Schools and graduated from Theodore W. Andrews High School in High Point, NC. A Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Roy dedicated his life to a higher calling serving his country. His service in the Marine Corps taught him the true meaning of honor, courage, and commitment qualities that defined him as a man. Roy loved his dogs, and his favorite was his Doberman pincher. He was an avid weightlifter, and he loved playing tennis. He was also a sports enthusiast, especially football and basketball. And oh, how he loved to sing. He could almost sing like Sam Cooke.
The remembrance of shared moments and his quiet and gentle spirit of love brings comfort and peace to his surviving relatives, three sisters; Mrs. Jacqueline L. Roberson (Calvin) of High Point, NC, Mrs. Sandra F. Austin (Howard), Mrs. Susan G. Hairston (William) of Greensboro, NC; two brothers; Mr. Jimmy S. Watts (Janice, significant other) and Mr. Frederick E. Watts (Cynthia) both of High Point, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Monday, October 27, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
