Walter Clinton Jarrett was born January 14, 1943, to the late Robert Lee Jarrett and Perry Lee Jarrett in Philadelphia, PA. Walter transitioned from home to glory June 7, 2024 at 4:26 a.m. at the age of 81 peacefully with family. His loved ones who preceded him in death sister, Elores Carrington, brother, Robert Lee Jarrett Jr. (Ora Jarrett), brother, Lester Jarrett (Margaret Jarrett), brothers-in-law, Elwood and Robert Alston.
Walter received his education from the Philadelphia public school system,
graduating from Thomas Edison High School. In 1962 Walter met the Love of his life, Margarie G. Alston. From that union in 1964 came their two beloved daughters, Sharon Margaree Sullivan and Yvette Getrude Jarrett.
The only thing that Walter LOVES more than family is GOD. From a very early age, Walter accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. He worshiped
GOD through song belonging to different gospel quartets. The last one being The Gospel Voice of Angels, whom his father and brother also sung in. Walter also learned to play the guitar from his father, he honored both of his parents during their lives by putting his own life on hold to see to their needs. He was always gentle and kind spirit, and he never complained. Daddy never met a stranger. One of his kingdom's gifts was always to make one feel loved and appreciated. In the most respectable way, he would always compliment you. Walter's signature song was "Wonderful" by Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers.
In 1996 Walter married Luvenia Davenport. They were married right up until her passing in 2015. In 2015 when Walter moved to High Point, NC with his daughter, Sharon and son in love James, he was surrounded by family. He became the oldest member of A People of God Church where he was always loved on.
One of Daddy's favorite things to do was sit outside with James and recite the music that was playing. They would sit out there sometimes from morning until night. That is how the neighbors got to know them, often holding conversations and appreciating the music. He also had his fish tank as a hobby which he had from all the way back from his young 20's.
His legacy lives on through his two daughters, Sharon Margaree (James) Sullivan and Yvette Getrude Jarrett; grandchildren, who called him Daddy; Margarie (Darius) Catoe, Johnnie (April) Talley, Cecil Williams, Alonda (Adolphus) Talley, Sharhonda Williams, Johnathon Talley, Elores (Jonathan) Boykins, Danial (Helen) McCray Sr.; seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson, Kamari Holland. Though Walter and Margarie divorced many years ago, they were the very best of friends and she aided her daughter by attending to him until Walter's transition; sisters-in-law, Lola Brown, Norma Winn, Renette William and his, brother-in-law, Carl (Maggie) Alston; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and many loved ones.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at A People of God Church, 4257 Furniture Avenue, Jamestown, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.
From now on, the crown of righteousness is stored up for me. Which the Lord.
The righteous judge. Will give to me on that day; and not only me, but also to
all those who have loved his appearing.
Sharon, your father was a Blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Praying comfort and strength
