Mr. Walter LaMarr Wallace, Jr. peacefully departed this life on July 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and friendship. He was born on December 4, 1953, to the late Pauline Dorsett and Walter LaMarr Wallace Sr.
Walter attended T. Andrews Wingate High School in High Point, NC. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He then dedicated many years of faithful service to Guilford County Schools before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, and willingness to help others.
A devoted man of faith, Walter accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on November 18, 1992. His relationship with Christ became the foundation of his life. He faithfully served his church as Head of the Trustee and Sunday School departments, touching countless lives through his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to God.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved son, Walter LaMarr Wallace, Ill.
Walter was a man of many talents and passions. He was an exceptional cook and was famous for his βnotorious ribs" which were enjoyed by family and friends alike. He was also an outstanding chess player, avid swimmer, fisherman, and a huge Detroit Lions fan. His impeccable fashion sense was admired by everyone who knew him, and he carried himself with confidence and style.
One of Walter's favorite daily traditions was gathering with his cherished breakfast community at McDonald's. For many years, he faithfully met with friends each morning, forming lasting bonds and brightening the lives of those around him. He was deeply loved and respected by this extended family.
Walter leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife, Clara Murphy Wallace; his three granddaughters, Jordan Wallace, Jada Spears, and Reagan Spears; his three grandsons, Mikaia Wallace, Isaiah Spears, and Elizah Spears; stepson, Ray Spears (Tori) of Greensboro, NC; his devoted sister, Phyllis of Fayetteville, three brothers. Cedric (Lois) of Greensboro, NC, Alton and Darrell of High Point, NC; sisters-in-law, Loretta (Raleigh) Miller of San Bernardino, CA. Ann Murphy of Detroit, MI and Gloria Murphy of High Point, NC; brother-in-law, Rudolph Murphy of High Point, NC; along with a host of extended family members, church family, dear friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
Walter will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous heart, servant's spirit, and the love he shared for his community. His greatest accomplishment was not found in his career or personal talents, but in his decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life stands as a testimony of faith, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Walter aka June Wallace. May God grant comfort and peace to the family during this difficult time. I have fond memories of Walter (sharp dresser and fun loving) as we lived across the street from each on Amos Street on the Southside. May you look to the hills from where your help comes from.
