Mr. William Thomas Hatch, 94, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 quietly at home in Richmond, Virginia. He was born May 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY to Elizabeth Shaw. As an infant, he was raised by his adoptive parents, William Hatch and Nancy Hatch, both deceased, in a loving and nurturing home in New Bern, NC. He graduated with a degree in art from A&T State University, where he met & married his lovely wife, Flossie Sawyer Hatch, who preceded him in death. After graduating from college in 1952, he began serving in the United States Army, became an aviation pilot, flew missions in the Korean War, and became a ranking Captain before leaving the military in 1960.
Employed as a Commercial Artist in High Point, NC, he and his wife raised their family and were faithful members of St. Stephen Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church for more than 50 years.
Surviving are his children: son, Keith Hatch (Donna); daughters, Daphne Moore (John), Karen Heath (Johnney), and Vanessa Hatch; eight grandchildren; two great-great grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown, NC. There will be a viewing at Phillips Funeral Service from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church, 1012 Leonard Avenue, High Point, NC 27260 or a charity of the donor’s choice in his honor.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

To the Family of Tom Hatch, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my first cousin, TOM. I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the entire family during this difficult time. I reflect on the recent conversation Tom and I shared, and I truly treasure the connection we've built in our later years, reminiscing about our blessed upbringing.
