Mrs. Annie Jo Horton, was born June 25, 1953, to the late Frank, Sr. and Violet Mae Allen in Tupelo, MS. She was the youngest daughter of 13 children born to this union. Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Will Horton, her parents, Frank, Sr. and Violet Mae Allen; brothers, Frank (Laura Mae) Allen, Willie “Shot” (Christine) Allen, Jessie Allen, Robert Allen, Bobby Allen, Charlie “Wayne” Allen and Johnny Horton; sisters, Julie (John) Brown, Mary Malone and Emma Trailor.
At the age of 6 years old her family relocated to Benton Harbor, MI where she attended school, worked, and built a thriving life. Being led by Holy Spirit, she relocated to High Point, NC to be closer to her granddaughter, and start a new beginning after the passing of her husband in 2022.
Annie wore many hats: Devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a caring Auntie, neighbor and friend. She was small in stature but stood tall with passion for her strong convictions. Annie loved life, fashion, and enjoyed spending time with her family-laughing, cooking, and sharing memories. She was very well-loved by many!
In the summer of 1987, during a special service, Annie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, at her home church Full Gospel Christian Center under the pastoral ship of Pastor Lilton Easterling, where she developed in Christian leadership and service. She was known as Mother Ann amongst the congregation, where she served as an usher, and a dedicated member of the food pantry ministry, ensuring that food was always available to feed the community. Annie loved studying the Word of God and committing her time to prayer and scripture confessions over those she loved, believing- “with God all things are possible!”
She met the late Bennie Horton (“Honey Bunch”) in 1980 and they spent 42 years building a beautiful relationship and marriage. She departed this life to spend eternity with Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Lisa “Vett” Allen, Latonia “Tammy” Potts of High Point, NC, and Penny White of Benton Harbor, MI; grandsons, Demontrea Allen of High Point, NC, and Lance Brown of Benton Harbor, MI; granddaughters, Joneisha (Martez) Bowens of High Point, NC, Brianna and De’Erica Depriest of Benton Harbor, MI, and Godson Anthony Reed of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren, Amaya Allen of Nashville, TN, Kyree and Iyana of Hampton, VA; siblings, Rommie (Debra) Allen of Joliet, IL,; sisters, Violet Jean Barnes and Myra Morrow of Tupelo, MS, and Martha (Lawrence) Malone of Hampton, VA; brothers-in-law, Larry Malone of IN, Willie Buchanon of MI, Sam and Johnny Horton of IL, and Omar Horton of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Mae Ruth Allen of MI, Claudia Butler of MN, Earline Horton of IL, Darlene Horton and Tadesa Allen of IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

To my family I pray that God continue to watch over and keep you all safe in the bosom of his heart. My heart is weary in the lost of my dear sister. I do know she is now with the Lord and her "Honey Bear". Im going to miss our long talks and prayers. Sister Ann was an inspiration to all she met and would give those to those in need. Whether it was food clothing and most of all prayer. You've gained your wings and there will be no more troubles of the world rest in peace until we meet again..Your sister Darlene
