Mrs. Carolyn Febres, 84, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at home peacefully surrounding her devoted husband. She was born in Asheboro, NC daughter of late, Colonel Hazel White and Ollie Louise Huggins White. Carolyn was the 3rd of six children. She preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn White and Jo-Nancy White; two brothers, George White and Jessie White.
After leaving Asheboro NC, Carolyn lived in California and Connecticut, where she proudly drove 18-wheeler trucks before eventually settling in Paterson, NJ. She was employed at Nabisco Bakery in Fair Lawn, NJ, for 31 years, where she met the love of her life, Rene Febres.
Carolyn was a faithful member of Solomon Temple Church in Paterson, NJ under the leadership of Bishop Willie Maxwell. She served diligently as the church secretary and sang on the choir. She got married and retired from Nabisco Bakery in 2001. She moved to Puerto Rico with her husband in 2002. After 17 wonderful years there, Hurricane weather brought her back to her hometown Asheboro NC for 9 years before leaving this earth.
Carolyn was known for her impeccable style of dress, creativity and giving spirit. She had a passion for refurbishing furniture from garage sales, cooking, cleaning, shopping, traveling, bowling, bike riding and watching her favorite TV shows — Wrestling, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy! In her spare time.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Rene Febres, two daughters, Fonchia Smith and Dorothy Washington; one step daughter, Jennifer Febres; one son, Freddie Hammonds; one son -in- law; one daughter- in-law; six grandchildren; one brother, Jonathan (Joe) White a retired police officer of Paterson, NJ; a very special cousin, Beulah L Everett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Her warmth, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church, 4380 US Highway 64, Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
