Creola Boyce-Horne was born May 11, 1931, to the late Horace Boyce, Sr. and Lucille Brook-Boyce in Rutherford County, NC. She transitioned on August 19, 2025. Creola resided the majority of her life in Newark, NJ.
She was employed at United Presbyterian Hospital for 30 years. She served as a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she served as Missionary Treasurer. Upon retirement she moved to High Point, NC to be closer to her siblings. She became a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she also served as Missionary Treasurer.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Willie Horne, one daughter, Deborah Smith, and three brothers: Horace Boyce Jr., John Luther Boyce, and Daniel Boyce.
Surviving is one son, William Smith III, two daughters, Barbara Smith and Rita Crenshaw, four grandchildren, Alonzo Cumberlander, Dana Cumberlander, Keith Jacocks and Sholanda Smith, one brother, Cleaster (Pete) Boyce, two sisters, Johnnie Dale and Mattie Hubbard, six great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
