Gracie Yvonne Pauling was born on July 20, 1956, in Wadesboro, NC, to Barbara Ann Lisenby David, and in latter years, Jesse David became her loving father. She made the transition from this earthly life to everlasting life on August 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Lisenby David, and a son, Kaelin James Pauling.
Gracie, also known as βBabydoll,β was educated in the Guilford County Public School System and resided in High Point, NC the majority of her life. She received her Bachelor's degree in English Education from Livingstone College, and later obtained her Master's degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Gracie was employed with Guilford Technical Community College, where she worked as an English and Literature teacher for over 30 years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Gracie united in holy matrimony to Charles Pauling, Sr., a union that lasted over 39 years.
Gracie was a fun-loving person that greeted everyone with a smile. She loved spoiling her grandson, shopping, interior designing, and spending time with her friends and family. Gracie was usually the quietest one in the room, yet the most powerful and most resilient one in the room. She was loved so dearly by her family, friends, co-workers, and students. Gracie will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
A loving wife, mother, mama, sister, aunt, and friend, Gracie is survived by her husband, Charles Pauling, Sr.; three children, Charles Pauling, Jr. (Tonja), Courtney Baker, and Joshua Pauling; her grandson, Elijah, whom she cherished so much; her father, Jesse David; two sisters, Antoinette Hingleton, and Carolyn Wright (Jerry); three brothers, Eddie LeGrande (Emma), Ricky LeGrande, and James βChrisβ David; one uncle, Harry Lisenby (Shirley); sister-in-law, Frances Carter; two godchildren, Jamila LeGrande, and Jeremy Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 808 Hilltop, High Point, NC. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Mrs. Pauling ! Ohh Darling This Just Turned My World Upside Down ! First & For Id like to Extend My Condolences To The Kids, Family This is A Shocking Loss She Was The Queen of Teaching πποΈπ©πΎβπ«βοΈ I remember Mrs. Pauling From GTCC She Was My Language Teacher She Was Always ALWAYS Always The Classy's Out The Bunch The Iconix Beautiful Black Afro, Red Nail Polish, Red Lipstick, Classy Attire, Sunglasses later to learn her nickname was "Babydoll" She Looked Every Bit of A Babydoll she Always Dressed Like A Queen Her Fashion was over the moon the greatest the way she carried herself like a lady will never be forgotten she was the greatest example for women, and mothers, and teachers, sisterhood that honors their role wherever they go because I seen her do it first hand I'm going to tell you why in a second. . When she opens her mouth to teach it comes from a place of love and care one of my former classmates whom sat beside me the entire year was arrested in the classroom Mrs. Pauling Stopped The Police and Made Them Wait until the student got the full course summery before they hauled him away she told them "I'm unsure what's going on, but this child needs his education not parture of the statements I'm making his brain needs to feed off what I'm saying and heart the clear message" they uncuffed him the students cheered her on for the bravery front line teaching motherly advice the former student was smiling ear to ear and was answering the quizzes back to back and she said baby did you understand everything do you have any questions ? Don't let this be the last time you keep your head in these books you keep going with your education wherever you are it was a touching moment !. I loved her class so much it was always a reunion with our peers and classmates and Mrs. Pauling She Loved Her Family Her Kids She Always Talked About Her Grandchild it was just so precious this is so heartbreaking I will forever Miss you, and always remember the moments you shared with our era . Thank You For Always Being Front Line With Your Role You Took Teaching To The Next Level , Your Level Of Care For Your Students Was More Like Family. May You Rest in Heavenly Peace.
