Our Queen was born Nov. 7, 1935 in Kingstree, SC to parents, Smart and Irene Brockington. She was one of 13 children, all of which proceeded her in their Homegoings.
The family relocated to the eastern counties of N.C. and there she met the love of her life, John Julius, and they were married 42 years at his passing.
They were blessed with seven babies, Queenie Thomas (Ben-deceased), Gladys Langley, John Caudle (Cassandra), Bettie Caudle-Wallace (Perry), Jacqueline Caudle Bostic (Lee), Vanessa Stubbs (Deric), and Ricky Caudle (Tonya); She also helped raise her two eldest Grands, Tyrone (Pamela) and Chris (Andrea).
After moving to High Point, NC she joined Calvary Baptist Church. There she sang on the Gospel Choir and raised her kids in the Baptist faith. She later joined Temple Memorial Baptist Church where she loved worshipping from her same pew, same seat for many years.
She was often asked, “How many grandchildren do you have”? She would always respond,
“Too many to count”! Well Mom, we’ve counted your flowers (as you referred to them as) and there are 24 Grands, 29 Great Grands, 8 Great Great Grands & several Grands-In-Love. Family also included dear brother/sisters-in-law, sweet nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as great friends and neighbors.
Her passions were cooking, hosting family gatherings and traveling. Her Sweet potato pies,Homemade biscuits and Chitterlings will surely be missed. Your daughters could never perfect the recipes.
Greyhound and Holiday Tours Bus Companies should have given her stock in the business.
She enjoyed spending time with the Bethea’s, conversations with Ms. Annie Pearl Rogers & birdwatching from her front porch.
Our Matriarch is resting in Heaven now.
We are honored for the beautiful years she was loaned to us.

Ms. Ida and I worked together but I cannot remember where! What I do remember however was her kindness, and her mild and quiet spirit at work. Although it has been years since I've seen her, my heart was deeply moved when I saw this beautiful picture of her in the obituary column. May the Lord watch over each and every family member and may He comfort your dear hearts during your time of sorrow, now, and in the distance future. Because I know that you are missing this wonderful lady greatly...your beautiful mother, matriarch, and friend. I extend my sincere love and blessings to you all in the name of Jesus, our Lord.Sincerely, Melanie B. Jones🕊️
